Upgrading from a previous version

Technically. To upgrade from a previous version, download the new distributable, execute it, and follow the process. The installer will detect an existing installation and will automatically remove it before installing the new one. During this process, your server keypair and settings will be preserved. Nevertheless: protect your previous version settings by first exporting them into a file before performing the upgrade.

If you are upgrading from WinSSHD 3.xx and your configuration uses templates/groups, note that versions 4 and 5 replace this with Windows groups. These have different semantics. Read Configuring groups and accounts for how group configuration works in WinSSHD 4/5.

License-wise. If your purchase was within the last 12 months, you will not need a new activation code.

If your upgrade access has expired, you will need to purchase one or more license-years of upgrade access to get a new activation code. You can do this through your License Overview. The cost is $19.95 per license-year for WinSSHD and $8.95 per license-year for Tunnelier. The number of license-years needed depends on the number of your licenses, and the length of time you are extending upgrades for.

Upgrading from 1.xx

Upgrading from the 1.xx versions of our products is a considerable technological leap forward and requires a new purchase. The WinSSHD 1.xx settings format is not converted automatically and new settings need to be configured manually. For Tunnelier 1.xx, a profile migration utility is available:

tlpmigr - version 1.01, size 447 kB - converts Tunnelier profiles from 1.xx to 3.61 format

One of several third-party products that use our SSH technology is the Intellipool Network Monitor, an easy to use and feature rich network monitor that enables you to monitor your servers, routers and workstations 24/7.

Dbvisit uses WinSSHD and Tunnelier as part of its Oracle standby database solution, a cost-effective alternative to Oracle Data Guard.
